The Piano is a very old and popular instrument. Many of the greatest composers of all time used this instrument. For example, Mozart, the genius of music, made many of his pieces using the piano. The piano is mainly a solo instrument due to its limited range of dynamic compared to the many instruments like the trumpet and the saxophone. The piano is a very versatile instrument and can be used for many music styles. The most popular music style the piano is used for is jazz and romantic style music. The Piano was made by Bartolomeo Cristofori. The piano takes many of the characteristics of the harpsichord, except that it hits the strings, not pluck it. The piano started out as just a fun invention, but it caught the eyes of many. The Piano’s popularity started in just Italy with only a very select few owning one, but as time passed, More and more people owned one. After 10 years passed, almost everyone in Europe owned a Piano. Piano teachers and schools emerged in every town. When the Piano’s popularity reached a great height, the piano’s Baroque style music was started. Bach and many other famous Baroque style composers used the piano. Later came the Classical period. Even though time had passed, the piano was still very popular and still, most of many composer’s works were made for the piano. Romantic style was a golden age for the piano, music made for a calm ambiance was very popular and reached the ears of many. The piano today is still very popular, but it is not as widely used anymore. There are people that are very skilled at the piano and perform for others. Some pianists are so into the song they play that they move with the flow of music. Old style music is still played today. Now, there are two types of piano, the upright, and the Grand piano. The upright piano is compact and easy to transport. The Grand piano is large, but it is very beautiful and is the piano to go to for performance. The piano is one of the greatest instruments created of all time.
