It was just an ordinary day at school for seventeen year old Jamal Hinton until he received a Thanksgiving dinner invitation text from an unknown number. He was confused at first, but now this text mistake has led to a heartwarming friendship.

It all began on Tuesday when Jamal was in class, and he received a group text saying that Thanksgiving dinner would be served at 3:oo pm this year. When the teen was later interviewed, he said that he thought the text was either from a wrong number, or his grandma had learned how to use a phone. Jamal asked for a picture and he received a selfie in return. The woman in the picture, Wanda Delch, was a complete stranger to him.

Jamal jokingly replied: “you not my grandma. Can I still get a plate tho?”. After that Wanda answered: “You sure can, that’s what grandmas do.” Their story was reported by Buzzfeed on Wednesday and became viral right away.

Jamal Hinton and Wanda Delch met on Wednesday night, and Wanda extended the invitation to Jamal’s whole family. Jamal and his family are in fact going.

Jamal later said, “I feel like everybody sees this joy that two people, two strangers can actually connect.” What a heartwarming way to spend Thanksgiving dinner.
