There are a lot of strange things in the world, such as strange fruits, strange people, and Donald Trump being president. But here I will be talking about the top five strangest animals on Earth. The first one goes to the Axolotl. The Axolotl is an amphibian that is found in many lakes one being Lake Xochimilco in Mexico. They come in a variety of colors such as pale pink, dark brown, and greenish brown. The strange thing about these animals is that they can change colors whenever they want and can regenerate. So if some parts of the brain or internal organs are damaged or cut, then the axolotl can regenerate it. Also the name axolotl comes from Xolotl, the Aztec god of death. Next we have the Sun Bear. Sun Bears are usually found in Indonesia, southern China, and eastern India. The name comes from bib-shaped golden patch on their chest which looks like a sun. The Sun bear is usually dark brown to black in color. The strange thing about this bear is that it has a tongue that is 10 inches! A human tongue is about 4 inches so it is more than double our tongue size. The third strange animal I will be talking about is the Dumbo Octopus. Yes it is called the Dumbo Octopus. It is called that after the Walt Disney Character Dumbo the elephant. They call the octopus that because the fins look like ears. These kinds of octopus can be found all around the world in oceans. They are usually green, red, and orange. The strange thing about the Dumbo Octopus is that they are scarcely seen because they live 23,000 feet below sea level. The fourth strange animal I will be talking about is the Walking Stick. It is called that because it literally looks like a stick that’s walking. These can be found in Asia, South America, and parts of Australia. The strange thing about this animal is how well it camouflages. The next time you pick up a small stick make sure you don’t accidentally pick up a Walking Stick! The final strange animal I will be talking about is the blobfish. Blobfish can be found in Australia and New Zealand. This animal was voted as the ugliest animal in 2013. Blobfish are usually found pink. The strange thing about this animal is that they barely have any bones or teeth so they do not always look for food. Those were my top five strangest animals. I think it is a pretty accurate list except for the fact that I forgot to add Trump to my list.
