Staff Profile: Jackson Fortin
Jackson Fortin is a thirteen year old male who attends Winston Churchill Middle School, in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IBMYP). He was born on May 7, 2004. Jackson is on his school speech team and enjoys his science and Chinese classes. Jackson lives at home with his sister, parents, and two dogs. His two wonderful dogs are both golden retrievers. One is named Nugget, who is one year old, and the other is named Maisy, who is nine years old. Jackson hails from Washington state, from a small town called Lynnwood, which is sixteen miles north of Seattle. The majority of his family either still live there or in Arizona. When not at school or doing homework, Jackson spends his time doing live theater. He spends at least two or more days a week taking dance, music, and acting classes at Sacramento Theater Company. There, he is in the YPC (Young Professionals conservatory) which is a ten-month training program that looks very good on college resumes. Jackson is very excited for college, and plans to apply for schools such as University of Minnesota, Ball State, and Western Washington University. At those schools he hopes to get a BFA (Bachelors in Fine Arts) with a specialty in Musical Theater, and then advance to a MFA (Masters in fine arts). These will help him get acting or theater jobs in his career. Jackson has been in many shows around Sacramento. Some of his favorite roles include Peter in the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Wally in Our Town, and Hook in Peter Pan. Jackson also loves to study Shakespearean texts. Some of his favorite Shakespeare works include Sonnet 130, Titus Andronicus, and KIng Lear. Jackson doesn’t like his middle school, and cannot wait until he can attend High School at Rio Americano HIgh.
