Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix (KH2), is classified as an RPG (role playing game), the publishers and developers were from Square Enix which incorporates various Disney and Final Fantasy characters. Its ential release was in December, 22, 2005 for the PlayStation 2, and the many KH fans had high very high expectations for this game, and it definitely surpassed those expectations by being a major upgrade from  Kingdom Hearts 1 (KH1) in many ways ranging from the attack controls and story development to magic and including more side characters into the story. Despite all of the great feedback and praise that the game received, KH2 was the start of the long and painful process that was to come, KH2 had many mysteries that left players wondering what would happen next, but the answers to those questions were put into another game for a completely different console (Chain of Memories for the Gameboy Advanced), regardless of the confusion that was brought with this secluel it didn’t bring the game down as a whole.

The game that I’ll be reviewing will be the most recently released version on the PS3, Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix Remastered, (KH2FMR) which was the sequel to KH:Chain of Memories and KH1, due to it being the most recent. Starting off you play as Roxas how lives in a place called Traverse town with his group of 3 friends including Hayner, Pence, and Olette. During your time as Roxas (duration of the prologue) you solve the mystery of the stolen photos and battle friends and foes. KH2FMR does have a abnormally long prologue which normally during your first playthrough would take about 3 hours to complete before you can get onto the main story, and many questions in the prologue that won’t be answered for many more installments down the line of future KH games. The prologue does manage to cover the basics for people playing the game for the first time and does a good job of introducing the characters and set up for major plot points later on but the length in quite extensive for any game KH or otherwise.

Once the prologue ends you start the main game as the main character of the KH franchise Sora who is accompanied by Donald and Goofy  Sora’s companions who follow him on the orders of the King to find the ‘Keyblade Master’. Keyblade Masters are people who seen as worthy by the Keyblade. Sora was chosen by the Keyblade while he was on his old Island with is missing friends Kairi and Riku who with the help of Donald and Goofy he has been searching for since KH1. As most of the KH series is known for Sora, Donald, and Goofy fly around to different worlds to help their many friends they first met in KH1 from other Disney worlds such as: Beast, Princess Jasmine, Jack, Hercules, and Ariel to name a few, but unlike KH1, KH2FMR has more characters from both Final Fantasy and Disney including the Princesses of Heart (The Princesses with the purest hearts: Kairi, Alice, Snow White, Jasmine, Belle, Cinderella, and Aurora) , Mulan, The Lion King, everyone from The Nightmare Before Christmas (ect.). Differences from KH1 instead of only being able to visit a world once to get a story, in KH2FMR you can visit the world again to play through a continuation of the story when you leave the first time, and when you go back to previous worlds you have already completed the character’s behaviors change along with the stories progression which was a loved feature in the new game. The other most apparent change that was made in KH2FMR were and easier self controlled camera, Sora’s Drive form function which helps showcase the powers the Keyblade gives you other than the Keyblade itself, and the mid battle reaction commands that allowing you to us the Heartless strengths against them. The ‘Heartless’ are the enemies in KH2FMR, they are the physical representation of the darkness found in people’s hearts. As the story progresses as you gain the trust of many people that will aid you in your mission to find your friends and save the world from impenetrable darkness, due to your failure to complete so in  KH1 before you went to sleep for 1 whole year while Roxas who you played as in the prologue of the game, the other half of or the ‘nobody’ of Sora that lived a fake life in Sora’s stead. In cessation KH2FMR overall a worthwhile game that you should undoubtedly consider playing and with the many upgrades that had been made in Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix Remastered from the platforming changes to the many charismatic characters that are spread throughout the entirety of the game, and the major twists in the story plot that will take you by surprise.
